Pieces of a Shattered Heart

by Flying Phoenix   Jun 15, 2006

Simple forms of scattered red
Lay around this land of dead

Glinting in the sun
The crimson shines on out
Jagged daggers
Line the edge
Splinters of a fragmented life

A form in shrouded darkness
Walks among the broken world
Carefully treading around the destruction
The being stops beside a piece
Characterless eyes stare on deep
And pluck the shard from the ground
Gentle fingers wrap it safe
On it wanders through

There I lay, amidst the chaos
My ruined body scattered around
Pieces of my shattered heart
Surround me upon the ground
