Speaking Mind to Mind

by Daenerys Stormborn   Oct 11, 2006

Overwhelmed is a bottle of cola sitting on my desk as I tip my desk over because my boss decided today is my day to go somewhere else--anywhere else, just get out of his sight, and it's cool
Can't believe that the walls keep closing in on my eyes, I can't hold on to these bars very much longer, this cage is beginning to suffocate my lungs and I my breath is becoming so shallow
Like the trees on a brisk summer eve caught in the middle of a plane crash that we'll never let go of, so we find a way to overcome such a loss, at the cost of so many young one's lives
And it's cold in my chapel of darkness where I hold my secrets in a locket with a picture of my baby at home in her crib crying mama please hold me, I can't take this much longer
So hop the merry-go-round and try to keep a grip on the changing tide filled with calm water that ripples as I throw pebbles of my life into the pot and pray that he changes his mind
Doesn't he see the pain that he's caused, and the reasons why I had to let go of reason to be the one, be the one there for my guardian angel, as he cried to the silent night of seasons
So I pray to the stars of the actors who claim that they know nothing of all this poverty in our lives, and go spending their cash on a few bucks at Starbucks to catch the next Oprah Winfrey show
At last we can see our ending coming, the sun is beginning to burn and our eyes no longer see right from wrong, and it's the very same reason we don't know when to start to stop this
Instead we just watch and sit back and talk about all the problems that we have, how one person can change the future, but my god it can't be me, I'll just wait and see who decides to step up
And we'll sing to the music of nuclear bombs ticking, waiting to blow for not one thing can be made without the curiosity of man interfering with life's inevitable ending of songs that we love
Maybe one day, I truly hope, we can say hey disassemble your bombs and we'll do the same, in fact we can make this day a day to remember in history, when love for life defeated revenge
We can pass on the streets and speak our minds and shout the words that we feel at the top of our lungs, bursting with gratitude that our leaders remembered to lead us for just once
For my dreams of our people are strong and I try to keep them bright as my nightlight slowly dims, and the bulb burning my hands that want nothing more than to hold everyone closer
And if you hold my hand I promise not to let go of our plans to make changes so small that they build up like dominos in some sort of crazy design that blows all of our boggled minds
But you insist that it's not your problem, and well you're right but it's theirs and they can't defend themselves, so tired and brainwashed, but that doesn't mean that you're any better
Actually I think that ignorance is your one excuse not to be a part of something great that will help a people unite on the grounds of understanding one another's development in culture
How we shape our lives affects everyone all around our world, maybe even on other planets, but I won't go that far, because thinking broadly hurts you too much and anger is always the answer
So my boss comes back into the room, sipping coffee from his mug made in some developing country, holding a note that contains an apology and asking me to stay a while longer
At this point, my mind has wondered so far and my doors of hope have opened all because rejection was so far from my mind, so I say it's okay, I think leaving this cube is a good idea
In fact, I think you should consider doing the same but if you chose not to and you think that I'm driving near insane, then I'll pull over, let you out--but one more thing...thank you
