Simple Thoughts from a Simple Girl

by the simple girl   Sep 17, 2007

Ah, the wonderful mysteries of life,
and while we will always try and fail to comprehend the true meaning of it,
We can always be assured of certain things.
We are all guaranteed to hurt, to hate, to envy, and fear.
But we also have every right to love, heal, hope, and trust.
All one has to do is believe.

I am afraid of failure.
And along with that comes the fear to try,
The fear to simply make a fool of myself.
I know that there is always that chance of success,
But what always goes through my head is, "why risk it?"
All of us humans strive to be perfect;
To look perfect,
To act perfect,
To simply be the best.
But while we can always dream and want,
Perfection will always be a lifetime away.

What is perfection anyways?
How can you be perfect in the eyes of your fellow citizens,
When everyone has their own standards?
How can you please everyone around you,
When everyone wants something different?
The only perfection we can ever reach is to be perfect simply for yourself.
We are our worst critics.
I think deep down everyone wants to be happy.
But the only way is to simply accept yourself,
Your peers,
And everything life throws at you,
For everything it is.

I find that there are two types of people in this world.
Those who try to be like someone else,
Or those who try to make someone else be just like them.
I, myself, am neither.
I like to be a unique person,
Because if we were all the same,
What kind of world would it be?
A boring one if I must say so myself.
I think God's greatest gift to us is our individuality.
That way you can bring something completely new and different to the world,
And knowing that I am capable of doing that,
Makes me happy.

Life is, as I like to put it, nothing short of a miracle.
We as humans, live for answers.
What people don't realize is that the only way you can live at ease,
Is to simply accept that we are here,
And we are alive.
I've come to realize that sometimes there are no answers,
And no matter how long and hard we look,
There is no end to this road.
Nobody is perfect;
I'm certainly not.
I have done plenty of things that I am not proud of in my life.
But I have always learned from those things,
And made sure not to do it again.
The only real mistake we can make is simply by not learning from them.
We are all meant to feel lost sometime in our life,
But it's all part of this journey to leave life,
Stronger then when you came in.

If you could do your life completely over,
Would you change anything?
I wouldn't.
I might still have things I have trouble accepting about myself,
But I am merely a 16-year-old girl,
With her whole life ahead of her.
One day,
I know that whatever I was sent on this earth to do,
Will be accomplished.
Perhaps we will never know exactly what that was,
But if we just continue to live with an open mind,
And take in what life offers to us,
Maybe we might find out sooner then we expected.

Everyday I learn so much more about this crazy thing called life.
I know that I will never know the true meaning of it,
But nothing will ever keep me from trying.
I don't think God gave us a rose with a thorn to show us that not everything is perfect,
But rather,
He gave us a thorn with a rose,
To show that if you look through the pain of the thorn,
You can always find the beauty of the rose.
Life is a wonderful and beautiful thing.
And no matter what I will always treasure it.
I will live with no regrets.
I will learn from my mistakes.
I will love with all of my heart.
And I will always laugh till I cry.
This is my story,
Now I'm telling it to the world.

"I don't think God gave us a rose with a thorn to show us that not everything is perfect,
    But rather,
He gave us a thorn with a rose,
To show that if you look through the pain of the thorn,"
