Let it go

by silence kills   Jan 11, 2008

I've seen the way you look at me
I've seen the way you smile
I know the way you talk to me
Just so I stay a while

I know the way you care for me
I know that you don't know
It doesn't mean that I don't see
Just because I don't let it show

I know these feelings you have for me
Are ones that I cannot return
I cannot change the way I am
No matter how you yearn

You might think you want a 'chance'
But that only hurts more in the end
For it lets your feelings grow
To a point; you can't pretend

Then It's harder to move on
It's harder to let go
It's harder just to look at me
Knowing what you know

You might think that you can change me
That my feelings might grow more
But instilling yourself with hope
Just makes it hurt more than before

I can't make myself like you
And I refuse to pretend
So just accept the way things are
And be satisfied as friends

Thanks for writing this. See I think I am in love with my best friend, but reading this poem, has kind of helped me see the situation through his eyes. It is very helpful, and also very well written. Awesome job!

I have SO felt this before! I loved this poem a lot, because it was so realistic. And it's good that you don't lead them on. So many ppl will do that. They think they don't want to hurt them, so they date, but then break up because they were right to begin with, it wasn't right, and so in the end both parties end up more hurt than before, and you lose your friendship. Good job!
