A unique kind of sadness - infertility

by Rebecca Bentley   Oct 20, 2014

There is a unique kind of pain,
That comes from within.
When you prepare your heart for a child,
But no life begins.

There is a unique kind of longing,
When you face your reality.
First comes love,
Then comes marriage,
Then comes infertility, apparently..

There is a unique kind of loneliness,
When you're in a room filled with friends.
Another pregnancy announcement,
As another dream ends.

There is a unique kind if love,
When you imagine a future.
When you see all the children,
And let them create an illusion.

There is no sense of time,
When you are stuck in the present,
And all you can think of,
Is your heart that's filled with resentment.

Infertility had captured my life in it's hands.
It has ruined my universe,
It's destroyed all my plans.
It's taken away all of the freedom I had
It's made me bitter and twisted,
Jealous and mad.
And as my hollow heart beats for the children I cannot bare,
The girl living inside me,
Wonders why life is unfair.

Nobody can see the way this girl cries,
They couldn't cope with the sadness,
That is buried in her eyes.

There is a unique kind of sadness,
When you live in this world,
When everyone else gets what they wanted,
And nobody cares about this infertile girl.

"Infertility is a loss.
It's the loss of a dream,
And like every great loss,
It will be mourned"

I have just come across this poem Rebecca.
It is truly beautiful, and I know very personal to you.
I wrote a similar poem once for a friend, but your one puts mine to shame.
You express the words so beautifully of the pain that one must feel in this tragic situation.
    This a great poem.

    This is so emotional,
"Infertility had captured my life in it's hands. "
    - brings it to life.
    Much Love.
