Wasted Breath

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 23, 2014

You can call me names
to lower my self esteem,
and to probably raise your own,
but you are wasting your breath,
for I already know I am worthless.

You can kick me around
with intentions of causing me pain,
but the pain that I feel inside
will always overpower
the pain you inflict on my skin.

You can blame your actions on me,
I will agree that it's my fault
and continue to apologise,
even when I am gasping for air.

But do not try to make me
fight for my own life,
because I already know
it is a life I don't deserve,
and I have already given you
all of the fight that I had left.

Insecurities plague the mind of doubt when we feel lost and trapped within our feelings. People often are mean to other people when they themselves have problems. I see the person here struggling to hold it together because of that nastiness of words. This person feels like their life is not worth living and so bad thing that happens, will make them go deeper into the hole then they are already in. This poem holds an interesting irony here. Though this person is causing you pain, the pain of your past trumps the pain you feel when they hurt you. I like this poem for it's wording and interesting thoughts. 5/5
