Gutter's Diamond

Gutter's Diamond

I am not proud of who I am
or what I have become,
just a grain of sand
blowing away in the whistling wind
amidst the sounds of winter.

One thousand stars all falling down,
wondering when they will hit rock bottom,
when there is no escape
from a day that's hurting you,
and it feels like you are against the world,
and all of your feelings are lost inside.

A thousand stars all falling down,
as one lands in the gutter,
making that decision at sundown
not to fight to survive anymore,
because maybe it didn't deserve
to ever be saved.
