Broken Shells and Sand Tombstones

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 18, 2015

Stolen hearts gather fearfully
on the cold mountain of winter -
they have been climbing with
heavy footsteps every day
since their years of silence were broken.

They gather beside the river,
beyond any mountain of your imagination,
where they remember unforgivable acts of crimes;
etching their names into the sand
just to feel like they still belong.

A place of safety,
where breaking the silence is allowed.
Tears will fall,
then disappear with the waves,
and these stolen hearts will find freedom
as they decorate their sand tombstones
with unwanted, broken shells.
