Drowning In Silence

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 19, 2015

No one ever saw
my body bending and breaking after dark,
reliving nightmares,
then suddenly awakening to a fuzzy picture
of the past, through trembling tears.

But you did!

I never let anyone get close enough
to see the damage that's inside of me,
but I did with you,
and oh how I wish I didn't.

Because now I am drowning in the silence
that is weighing me down,
listening to the sound of you leaving -

and I wonder
if you would have loved me longer
if I had never been broken?
