Concrete Is Breakable Too

by Baby Rainbow   Jun 11, 2016

It's hard to believe that this time last year
we were building a concrete love
that I thought would last forever...

and now there is only me.

Don't you remember a time
back when I was afraid of you,
and would not let you knock down
my concrete defences?

But not before long,
I let my guard down for you,
and learned to confide in you.

I became unguarded,
placing my silence in your arms,
believing you caught it just in time to be saved.

I can't regret letting you take my heart
and steal my life,
because in return you let me taste
the feeling of being unwanted
by someone you need to want you.

I never should have believed
that there could really be hidden gold
beneath the boundaries of your concrete love,
I never should have let down my defences.
