You're my favorite deputy

My hands have stained the rope with my blood.
Here I come to the rescue for the last time.
I came to get you, but instead you decide misery loves company.
Maybe down the road we'll face, if only be a couple feet.

I'm sorry it took me so long to say goodbye;
even longer for me to deny you.
Go ahead and preach to me about intentions,
but no one could lead better by example than you.

Before you open your mouth, don't you dare retort;
I'll point you to the exit, and it is on your left.
Make sure you take the door with you as you go,
Don't want you to believe there is a way back in.

Ignored several warnings and a shot across the bow.
You're a fool if you think I will take this sitting on my ass.
The present caught up, striking a chord resembling the past.
I'm not here to backtrack, forward is the only way I'll go.
