Speechless War

by Baby Rainbow   Aug 10, 2016

After all this time of talking without speaking,
the distance between us is growing like cancer.

Never sharing how we really feel
has created a war,
a war I don't think we will ever win.

I thought I would be so much further than I am right now,
I tried to make you proud,
but maybe I could never match your expectations all along?

I think we could have tried so much harder,
I would have done anything to make you stay,
even if it meant letting you drag my heart around in pain...

surely it wouldn't hurt more
than never seeing you again.

Saffie, this brought goose bumps to my arms and butterflies to my stomach, I can only imagine because I have been here like many others and your words are a mere kick in the teeth only because they are so relatable. This may be a simple write but its so elegant.

After all this time of talking without speaking,
the distance between us is growing like cancer.

This is a real eye opener and a fantastic way to describe the distance this has caused.

Never sharing how we really feel
    has created a war,
a war I don't think we will ever win.

I get this because in any relationship be it friendship, gf/bf, mother/ daughter etc communication is key and once that breaks down then nothing can save it.

I thought I would be so much further than I am right now,
I tried to make you proud,
but maybe I could never match your expectations all along?

When relationships break down then can often pull us back too, the key is finding the strength to pull ourselves back up no matter how much we are hurting.

I think we could have tried so much harder,
I would have done anything to make you stay,
even if it meant letting you drag my heart around in pain...

Nowadays, when things are broken they stay that way because people do not like to try and fix things unfortunately.

    surely it wouldn't hurt more
    than never seeing you again.

    Fabulous ending.
