Mirror

by Sinister Soire   Apr 2, 2005

This mirror is my life
A portal to the world
Mimicking the people
And hiding all my strife

This plain and solid thing
So simple in its nature
Shows everything there is
A blanket to which cling

It protects me from it all
Keeps me warm and safe inside
Holding tightly in my hand
Cushioning my fall

But what happens now
When the cracks begin
What do I do about it
When I don’t know how

From hiding behind it
I’m a simple frail boy
Unknown to the world beyond
This is more than just a fit

And what about when cracks spread
And encompass all my life
Spiraling out of my control
I’m spinning in my head

Cracks combine and tear out shards
My life in pieces before I know
What to do now in this state
I’ve played out all my cards

If only I had dealt with them
And shown the real me
Never would this problem been
Problems bulging at the hem

Shatter away worthless piece
No longer are you my mask
Release my soul from deep within
And give me silent peace

Good poem! At the beginning though it flowed a certain rhyme pattern and then near the middle it changed again which really messed up the flow.... I think you could maybe work on that and then for this verse i have a suggestion
    *But what happens now
    When the cracks begin
What do I do about it
    When I don’t know how*
I think you can maybe say

    But what happens now,
When the cracks begin to show
What do i do about it
How can i fix what i don't know?*

    Well it's just a thought:)
    Anyways great poem.
