Guilty

by Lemma   Feb 10, 2008

I know how much I've hurt you,
And it kills me to see
The tears in your eyes
Spill over your cheeks
Like a waterfall into a pool of helplessness and despair
And I'm drowning
And I'm drowning
In the guilt that haunts my nightmares
This is not how it should be
We belong as one
And yet
Separated by miles of endless ocean
I cry myself to sleep
And I think of our future
Of how we're meant to spend
Our eternity together
Forever
I promise you this
This is not the end
This is barely the beginning
Let the jury make their verdict
Let them hear my plea
I am guilty
I am guilty
But I shall be redeemed.

The flow was very nice. I loved your word choice. I didn't exactly get a sad feeling with this poem though.
