Genesis

by Orion   Feb 11, 2008

A roll of thunder, the crash thousandfold
Spreads across a barren landscape.
The sound crumbles rock faces
And ripples oceans it flies over.
All is in darkness.
There is no life immediately seen.
Mere buds in this ever-shadowed world.
The thunder rolls again, causing more
Similar destruction of rock and cliff.
A much softer sound now percolates through the air.
Once the crumbling of stone ceases.
A simple hum, calm at first
But growing loud, more frantic
Wildly now the thrumming and suddenly
Over the horizon breaks
A fiery light, unknown to this desolate place.
It burns as this hum reaches the crescendo.
And then all is quiet once again.
The light rises above the stone giant.
Once a dark wasteland,
Now the calm, peaceful,
Earth.
