Who Among Us

by Richard Alan   Feb 13, 2008

Who among us can say why,
Why do we still go and try,
To hold on when it might be to late?
It's to hope and to hope that someday,
We get to hold our true love and to say,
It was worth every second of the wait.

Who among us knows how,
How to change "someday" into now,
And let us in from outside time's cursed gate?
Who but god can I ask why,
And with no answer I let out a sigh,
Because only her image I have with me to wait.

Who among us knows what,
What will it take to shut,
My eyes from this beauty so great?
For to me it is beyond compare,
For an eternity I could just stare,
And would enjoy every second of the wait.

Who among us knows where,
Where will we get to share,
Our first kiss when we go on our date?
I can only imagine what I will feel,
I'll have to pinch myself to know that it's real,
To have finally made it through the wait.

Who among us knows when,
When all of these other men,
Will see the reasons why I am so elate?
Then she will have her choice,
And will no longer hear my voice,
And in vain will have been every second of the wait.

Who among us knows why,
Why we tell ourselves this lie,
And faithfully put all our feelings and emotions in fate?
It's to know and to know that someday,
We will get to kiss our true love and to say,
You were worth every second of the wait.

How did this come to be,
Be that her world is so far from me,
Yet I have now come to realize that she is so great?
God must hate me I guess,
For now I'm doomed to be depressed,
Because I know forever for her I will wait.

This is another great poem, but while your "waiting" keep your eyes open. You may let the "right one" pass you by. I can't really talk though, I call myself "waitng" on him too.
