A Sparkle in Your Eye

by Danielle   Feb 15, 2008

Put a sparkle in your eye
When you stare off
at a vacant sky. And you sadistically think
You can be seen?
Sitting there dreaming
The obscene dream?

You disappear
into a bright dieing light,
That overtakes your thoughts
on life. Why should you care?
It's not like there is anything there
Nor intellectual thoughts to share.
Just the spasmatically cruel reality
staring back, breaking our anatomy
so we can't fight back.

"Why can't anybody see--
What they want they can't get from me?"
You scream this
to the sky, while your wandering eye
begins to cry.
You won't give in
to these heart breaking truths
That accused the untrained minds
of the youth.

We are here to be manipulated,
Not educated
Nor shown a life not overrated.
So, jump off
a wandering star, escape this inscrutable life
in a jar. Just look off
to that vacant sky
and analyze and wonder, why we had to be born
into such a social blunder.
