The Candy Edit

Once upon a time...
There was Sam and Sly. They were like bliss. But the kind of bliss you'd find in a tin, at the very back, on the top shelf. Bliss with an expiry date. Their love could melt walls, swallow time and outshine the sun.
Sam and Sly wanted the same thing, and for a while that was even each other. Sly was like Sam's poison, smeared all over her lips, trickled into her mouth, seeping out of her pores, and so very deadly. She was a beautiful liar with the best intentions. Her eyes were like windows to the ocean, portals to heaven. She had a way of making everything okay. Together they were free, together they were in love. They scratched and crawled, held and cried, pushed and whirled, beat and yelled, they needed and they twirled, the same way that two stars would in the sky, held above by the finest thread, and hanging together side by side.
But one day they started to burn, the thread broke and they hurled towards the earth, two lovers ablaze, full speed ahead. Their worlds collided and exploded. They were a nasty addiction, living under the skin, desperately wanted out but could never have it.
When the universe and oceans between two continents was put between them, everything went silent. All the winds calmed, and time passed. And they had others. Lackluster and unsatisfying. There was always the craving, the itch, buried somewhere deep within each of them.
"I missed you" was the first sound they heard in months. The harshness of these words left them paralysed, unable to move on. The second chance at a first kiss was a candied memory revisited. And Sam and Sly were afraid. Could they go back? Could they repeat history?
" I was lost in space, lost in love, lost in everything, I've never felt like that before."
The risk was crashing back to earth, unable to pull themselves out of the dirt once more.
They were afraid.
