Shoulder demon

A little demon on my shoulder
Whispering in my ear
My little demon soldier
"show no fear"

He tells me this
Among other things
Sometimes he'll give me a kiss
And say he'll give me wings

But only if I do what he asks
His every beckon call
But I dont mind these tasks
I dont mind them at all

He asked me once to kill someone
"dont forget, Ill give u wings"
I said "consider it done"
And gathered my things

I brought with me a gun
A bag and some bullets
He said "have fun"
"now get to it"

I saw my target standing straight ahead
I steadied my arm and took aim that day
"do it" he said
"fire away"

I pulled the trigger
And let the bullets fly
The explosion was bigger
Then I had realized

But it didnt matter one bit
So I took my bag and threw away the remains
The bullets that is
Not the body or blood stains

I left him there
Bleeding
But I didnt care
Because he wasnt breathing

And the praise
Was well worth the sin
"you did great"
Was amazing coming from him

"I have only one more request
one more demand
Before you can rest"
One more command

Before I can fly
With my newly brandished wings
High as the angels fly
Till I can hear the golden harp strings

He told me to take my gun
And put it in my mouth
Count to one
And pull the trigger

"do this
And ill give you wings to fly
All I wish
Is for you to die"

So I raise my gun up from my waist
And imagine the day when I can soar
But I hesitate
"What the hell are you waiting for!"

He screams
I smile....."one"
And enter a dream
To the sound of the gun

But no wings
Just fire
Nothing lower
Nothing higher

No paradise
Or soaring with the divine
Nothing of the sort
Will ever be mine

Only my demon soldier
Resting on my shoulder
Laughing as I burn
