My Retreat

by Paige Lea   Feb 22, 2008

I see you everyday in class
And I do my weird thing:
I listen to your heart and then
You smile that smile at me

I've told you that it makes my day
To hear that thumping beat
You'll never know that hearing it
Is my form of retreat

I hide away my problems
My fears, my anger and hate
To know your heart's still beating
Tells me that it's not too late:

If you can survive heartbreak
And be how you used to be
Then perhaps I'm not completely gone
Maybe there's hope for me

Your heart's my motivation
To not succumb to pain
And maybe one day, near to now
I will enjoy the rain
