You realise it's over

by Diz   Feb 23, 2008

The day came and went,
It came quickly
There were no signs
There were no hints
The day came and went

Sunrise was a pleasure
Sunset was another story
I leapt with joy as morning came about
I cramped in pain as night unfolded,

My heart was full
Love filled my veins
My heart became empty
My veins pulsed with pain

I struggle to understand
Wishing that day was no more
Dreaming all had been another story
A story not belonging to me

I lay at night cold finding nothing to my left
I turn and twist but no heat to be found
I huddle into a ball to find comfort on my own
I pull the covers wishing sunrise would come about.

I wake to find no change
The pain is still apparent
It kills my heart to realise a dream it was not,
I cuddle up in an old shirt
Clutching at straws hoping for his smell
I realise no matter what he has made his choice,

I sleep with some of his smell
Comfort for a second it brings
The realisation carries more than I can tell
Sunrise is about a mess I feel

Day after day is a struggle
I see and know hes there I cant reach no matter what I try
I try to be strong I see life from another angle
I try to be wise but alas it does me no laughs

I finally talk to myself
I realise what was meant to be
Seeking was never meant to be
But me being me I realise I am better than he.

Very heartfelt poem, nicely written. Just some suggestions:

"I see and know hes there I cant reach no matter what I try"
hes should be like this: he's

"I try to be strong I see life from another angle"
I think it would sound better if there was an as between strong and I.

Another thing, throughout the poem, you spelled realize wrong. It should be realize. Otherwise, I absolutely love this poem, and I can tell you worked hard on it. Take care!
