Sweet Torture

by Romancing the Darker Side   Feb 25, 2008

This part of me wants to forget you,
But I know I never could.
Is teenage "love" real?

We sat together, against the urge to conform.
Not because we couldn't be bothered:
Because we were in love.

And you cared.
You asked what was wrong, and I said "Nothing,"
But you were the answer.

I was the only one you'd been this close to,
And to throw it away?

You gave me a heart of poetry,
It's building up inside of me,
And it nearly bursts every time you look.

You chose me
Because I stayed calm,
And everyone else was busy.

We talked about nothing,
And said everything that night.

You touched my face,
"In case it spills,"
In case what spills? Your heart?
It just did.

Valentine's day is torture, sweet torture,
You're here, but you're not mine.
You're no one's.

And I'm the lucky one of all of them;
I've got the memories.
And this awful urge to love you.

And love you, I do.

This poem has such a beautiful concept. And it was written very well. But your thoughts were scattered a little bit... The word usage was really good and effective for this. I really felt this poem... 5/5

I really liked this poem. It is the emotions of a young girl's heart, simply beautiful. You have a natural ability for poems, keep up the great work. 5/5
