A Reason For Broken Wings

by Lemma   Mar 8, 2008

I'm your imperfect angel,
Sent down from the sky.
To pick you up when you stumble,
To wipe away tears you cry.

I know I must stay strong for you,
And for myself as well.
I will be your heaven,
And not your fiery hell.

And yet there's still an anchor,
That prevents me from being able to soar.
Much as I try to spread my wings
I'm still stuck on the floor.

There must be a reason
Why I cannot ascend,
What is the cause of these broken wings,
That I cannot seem to mend?

Perhaps once we're together,
My wings will be repaired.
Then I will rise high above,
And once again be prepared

To watch over you once more,
To protect you from this pain,
That right now I cannot fight,
But soon I shall again.
