Turned to Dust

by Alexander   Mar 10, 2008

Friends through thick and thin.
Always being there when
we needed each other most.
To that i say a toast on friendship.

Never leaving each others side,
even when the other cried
and said they wanted to die.
To that i wrote a poem on friendship.

Welcoming with open arms,
even when the other seemed torn
and did nothing but yell in your face.
To that i say a speach on friendship.

Even when you moved away
we stayed in touch.
We both knew nothing could break our bond.
To that i weep tears of joy for friendship.

But as our days apart grew in number,
our calls started to become fewer.
Slowly we started to drift apart.
To that i weep tears of pain for a broken friendship.

---------------------

Two years later you move back,
we both think we can bring things back on track.
But sadly it seems we had grew apart.
Thanks to that i no longer believe in friendship.

((Ok this is actually a poem about something that happened to me, but the ending is not true. Even if it takes me longer now to become friends with someone i still believe in friendship.))

Hey, you commented on a poem of mine a while back so i thought i'd return the favour :). i like this poem, its simple but almost elegant because it is. i like the way the first two lines of every stanza rhyme, and the repetition of friendship, nice job!
