Death to Poetry

Death to Poetry by oNice

I hate poetry, yes I do!
Whittier, Frost, and Longfellow too!
Personification, meter, and rhyming;
Oh, dear me! Don't think that I'm whining!

It's just that onomatopoeia is difficult to use,
And refrain and satire are impossible to fuse!
I can never remember the meaning of metonymy,
Can't you see this awkward irony?

Elegies are overly dark and cold as night,
While epics are much too difficult to write.
Curse the Anglo-Saxons for inventing kenning!
I'm afraid that there is just no ending . . .

I hate poetry, yes I do!
Death to poetry, through and through!

*Inspiration from Juliea who wrote a poem about hating poems*
**I wrote this in sonnet form haha**

    Good word choice and flow in this piece. It is finally nice to read a poem that actually deserves to be on the board! Nice job!

    What an amazingly thought out poem! Most would just say something about how hard poems are to write, but you really went into detail, with words that can get even the best poets mind bogged down! 5/5 because this poem definitely deserves it!
