The Chronicles IV - Daydreams of an Insomniac

by Rich   May 21, 2004

The sun doesn't rise,
The sun doesn't fall.
This patient sits here
Just staring at the wall.
Watching the rain run down the glass,
Watching the time slowly pass,
Watching every tick and every tock;
The perpetual deja vu of the plain white clock,
The perpetual deja vu of each passing day,
Because the state of dreams is so far away.

This patient never sleeps,
His mind never rests,
His heart long since fell silent;
His feelings repressed.

The insomniac only daydreams;
His brain alive with thought.
A mental contradiction;
Finding clarity when distraught.

Dead on the outside,
Within, I'm alone.
Left to sit here in this cell,
To never sleep on my own.
