Echo

by Rich   May 21, 2004

So here I am once more,
Another day, another sun,
But I know what's in store,
Same old story, same gauntlets run.

Staring at the blue,
Clouds pass overhead.
They give me a clue
To what lies ahead.
I've seen them before;
Neither dreams, nor real.
I open my door;
It knows what to reveal.

With the same cautious gait,
Once more to the breach,
But I stop there and wait
And the winds beseech.
They beckon me on
To walk the path I've walked,
To go where I've gone,
And I know that we've talked.
This beats to the drum
Of a bygone day.
Déjà vu's gone and come;
Eternal dismay.
