The Ballad

by demitra   Mar 12, 2008

He stared at her with teary eyes,
Realzing what he'd just done,
He made her choose a different life,
And then they would soon become one,
Would she choose the man she hates,
And watch her lover die?
Or would she reject the man she hates,
And watch her lover die?
She made her choice and kissed the one,
That once inspired her voice,
Then he turned the tables,
And made a choice knowing she'd never see
Another day,
He held her face in a tight embrace
And told her to run away,
She was his muse but he had to refuse
Even though it's not what he wanted,
He'd be lonely forever and ever more,
And in his memory is where he'd be haunted,
As he untied the noose that was tight slightly loose,
To the feeble neck of her mate,
He hoped and prayed they would make it away,
Before it was too late,
As he watched her go, tears rolled down slow,
And he pondered himself a question:
How could someone love such a monster,
Who has committed such a terrible sin?
He felt guilty and sad for making her choose,
That he let her return back to him,
For he loved so, he let her go,
He'd never see her again.
