The Betrayal

by BurriedFaceDown   Mar 16, 2008

Love is;
It is a brutal game of luck and chance,
Full of lust and romance,
But it isn't always such a lovely toe dance,

Sometimes will love find you,
Just to deceive you,

Love came to me in the form of a man,

He was all I ever wanted,
Handsome, charming, passionate, thoughtful
He made me giddy and joyful,

But then I found him with her,
Of course she was more beautiful than me,
She was probably more likeable too,

But that gives him no excuse!
He said I was his and only his
It had never occurred to me that he had a second lover

I was disgusted when I saw him lean to kiss her,
I felt shame rush within me,
For I was jealous,
He was kissing her with such passion,
Something no one had ever done to me.

That night I questioned him about it,
He pleaded to me not to let him go,
I gave him one last chance to redeem himself,

But I caught him with her yet again,
This time I approached him right on the spot,
I questioned him,

The woman with him did too,
Oh but he was tricky,
He treated me as if he had never seen me a day in his life,
He made me look like a crazed woman,
His lady friend believed I was too!

I slapped him,
And left in tears,

He came to me again that night,
Said he was sorry I found him like that,
Then he told me he was married to that woman,

I screamed, thinking I was dreaming,
He was still explaining,
Saying that he has been married to that woman for many years,
We have children he added

I screamed more and more,
He tried to calm me,
I didn't stop, I couldn't stop
I held my chest
Silently telling my heart not to give out,
For his love was the only thing that kept it going,

He said let me help,
He went in the kitchen and took a knife,
I screamed no,

He aimed to stab me in the heart
I jumped up
He missed and got me in the leg,
I tried to run, of course couldn't
Then as he was he about to try again,

I just looked at him,
And stopped my outrageous behavior,
I knew I had but minutes left,
With my internal clock slowing its ticking,

I took my time to say one last thing to him,
The last human being I would ever speak too,
Saying, may the Devil have pity on your filthy soul,

He looked at me,
I saw him put the knife towards his out throat,
My eyes felt heavy, as I went into my eternal sleep,

When I woke in heaven,
I found out soon enough whether he decided
To live or die
