Winter Walk

by u wish   Mar 18, 2008

Do you see the footsteps in the snow?
Going where they should not go,
Leading on, to desperate places,
Somber, sullen, deadened faces.

I left off in such shining light,
Watching snowflakes glisten, blinding bright.
But now, days end to bring such darkness,
Sin and fear shall forth encompass.

The white of snow and black of night
Combining into a gray, flat, and full of fright.
I watch on, silent as I walk,
Not daring inhale the breath to talk.

Arriving upon my destination,
A precipice ripe with snowcapped degradation.
And on to the end, the falling action,
I say my words to life's lasting faction.

"You can't take it back."
