Discrimination

by jojo   Mar 22, 2008

Discriminating means...
to hate
to judge
being forgiving
but holding a grudge
Holding tight
but end up letting go
Holding your head up high
But still very low
Having confidence
That does not last long
Having underwear
But wearing an uncomfortable thong

Discriminating is not a laughing matter
People have died
From holocausts
To hate mail
From torture
To life in jail
From envy
To being ashamed
To changing your first
And last name

The only way to stop it
Is to stand straight up tall
To never back down
Even if you fall
Just get back up
Quickly and ruthless
Because no one anywhere
Should ever feel ashamed and useless

You said exactly how I've felt before. I hate the word discrimination, it's horrid. Again a wonderful piece :) 5/5 x

I really liked this poem. Normally poems that have such short lines bore me, but I think you did a really nice job. I liked this metaphor "Having underwear
But wearing an uncomfortable thong" and found it humorous. However, you were able to add that without disrupting the seriousness of the whole poem. Nice job.=]

Thats exactly what I like to see out of a poem. Spectacular write! Although it was a simple poem, it held a lot of meaning. And this poem was meant to persuade people. Being able to use words to influence people while using a lot of feeling... Thats what poetry is about! And thats exactly what this did. Amazing job... 10/5
