To Cleanse

by ashley joy   Mar 24, 2008

Lying in the bottom of the shower
Hoping I might drown
Drops of water down my face
Washing away my tears but never cleansing me
It can't erase the stain
Dirty and disgusting
Replaying in my head, the fingers that scraped my thighs
The marks like permanent scars
Never healing, never fading
Lying in the bottom of the shower
Trying so hard to drown
Drops of water down my face
Washing away my tears but never....
Cleansing me...

I liked how you set this up in the shower. It's like water is suppossed to cleanse, but it won't cleanse what and where you need to cleansed at and that's in your soul. I like how you said your tears are washed away, but you are still "dirty." This is a really good poem and I like it a whole lot. When you thihk about it, or maybe I'm thinking too hard about this, but when your face dries, the residue of tears are still on your face. This is a heavy poem.
