Friends instead of lovers

Let's forget about love for awhile
Let's talk about just being friends
Because love comes and goes with each passing day
But true friendship never ends
let's forget about going steady
Let's forget about promise rings
Because none of these can match the love that true friendship brings
so let us hold eachother close like friends instead of lovers
And maybe love will grow from the friendship we've discovered

    I think the idea you are expressing is really told well. I had a bit of trouble with the rhythm. I think if you split some of the longer lines and perhaps balanced the rhyme scheme this would become an awesome write
