Welcome to the Real World

by Miss Megan   Mar 28, 2008

Do you ever feel like you're invisible to the eye?
As if you go by unnoticed, just a waste of precious space.
Welcome to the real world,
Where no one cares and there's no escape.

They'll tell you they love you,
that they really do care.
Yet they criticize your every move,
your clothes, your hair.
They lie straight to your face,
with no guilt at all.
They carry you to the top,
yet they're the very reason you fall.

Trust is so limited these days,
whether the lies is for the best or not.
People only focus on THEIR needs;
or most importantly, THEIR wants.
They'll tell you stories just to get in your head.
But once they're there,
everything just comes crumbling to an end.

This is the real world,
where people's first priority is themself.
It's human nature to be greedy,
and to not help anyone else.
They take all that they can,
and give nothing away.
How can they look in the mirror,
or get up for each new day?

It's all a vicious cycle;
pretending to be someone and getting what you came for.
Then leaving everyone behind,
as if there's no use for them anymore.

Welcome to the Real World.
