The Anthem of Failure

by Ana   Apr 1, 2008

When the ringing amplifies in your head
The cloud of mist engulfing your sight
Your hands trembling with fear
I salute you.

When your tears escape your eyes like jewels
The severity of the scene at hand hits you
As if you have lost yourself on silver railway tracks
I salute you

When your world gives way beneath your feet
Your knees clicking against each other
You'd fail to hold yourself up if you tried
And I salute you

When that one speck of impurity consumes
Your mad attempts to wash yourself clean
Are nothing but in vain
I salute you

When you have walked past that empty gate
Your saddened gaze staring me down
I'll welcome you with a smile
And I'll salute you
