The World We Once Loved

by LoveBird99   Apr 2, 2008

Guilt is acquitted while innocence is accused
Lies are believed while trust is abused
Money is more important than the people in need
The poor want to help while the rich drown in greed

Two-faced fakes are so hard to believe
People say they'll stay, then turn around and leave
Fighting is encouraged and peace is denied
No one seems to get their piece of mind

Fantasy is mistaken for reality and truth
People go to extremes to keep their youth
Scientists attempt to separate the body from the mind
And the world we once loved is now cold and unkind

People become obsessed with alcohol and drugs
Peace is disrupted by gangsters and thugs
Blackmail is discreet while anger's taken to court
The world's hung up on issues like "do or don't abort"

Smiles are facades and words deceive
Now that nothing is worth it to believe
Problems are "found" just to create confusion
Reality's disregarded as we worship our illusions

TV and schools forbid religion, yet allow profanities and sex
Society is out of whack and simplicity is complex
People use alcohol and drugs to numb their pain
Our consciences have been blinded and the world is insane
