Caged Bird

by I Seem to be the Heartless   Apr 2, 2008

You have me locked up here,
Deprived of all I need.
Why do you keep in this place?
You have me caged like a bird,
To acknowledge and admire
Whenever you want to.
When you pull the cloth off my cage
I'm willing to do anything for your attention -
Like a puppet on a string.
I will sing for my supper;
Flap my wings to give you air;
I'll remove every feather from my body
To make a soft pillow for you.
Do you enjoy watching
Me suffering like this?
What pleasure could this possibly bring?
I've made a promise,
One which I intend to keep,
But I ask you for a favour in return.
Please, I beg you,
Please,
Set me free.
