Joe would be waiting

by Arunansu   Apr 3, 2008

Mimi had left her mobile on my table.

I liked its screen saver,
a pretty picture amid
unordered piles of magazines,
books and PC.

She returned after a while,
"Silly me! Forgot to take the phone.
Bye, Harry! Joe would be waiting.
It's fifteen minutes walk, you know."

I smiled, closing the door.
Then cleaned my sound boxes.
Plugged them on.
The Left one crackled,
right one remained numb.

I arranged books, files in order.

Slowly, the left speaker smoothened,
the right started coughing along
with "Everything I do".

Fifteen minutes
passed.

Then I turned both the speakers off,
abruptly.
