Memories

by Midnight   Apr 6, 2008

As I walk along the beach
I leave footprints of many colors
Each in it's own representing a memory
A reminder of the past
Even possibly the present
Most of them haunt me
Some more than others
Ones from when I was young may contain happiness
The rest cause me pain
Pain enough to still cause tears
No matter what I try to do
It's all always there
Even in the short lived moments of joy
Oh how I wonder what or why
I did to deserve this pain and suffering
Is it to teach me a lesson?
To change me?
So far I cannot tell
I keep getting told it will get better
Sometimes I catch a glimmer of hope
Though in the frantic struggle to reach it
I lose sight of it once again
Leaving me back where I started
Walking along the beach
Leaving those many colored footprints
Containing a mile of memory

*I give credit to my Language teacher Batista Simpson for her footprints on the ceiling inspired me*
