An Angel Born

The sky rips open as rain falls from its hole
The thunder growls and rumbles your very soul
Lightning flashes its blinding blue light
A storm growing in the clouds far from sight

You take a step off the curb and into the street
The ground shaking and rattling beneath your feet
Rain pours down your face soaking your skin
As the storm rages on the outside, a hate burns within

All that surrounds you is a darkness from this pain
Anger has numbed you until you couldnt feel the rain
Your eyes glow with a flame flicking of such hate
First time in your life you have no idea of your fate

Suddenly you stop, something's moving inside
You feel it growing from the darkest places you hide
It begins to crawl through your skin and veins
Stinging and burning until you grow more insane

You fall to the ground from the pain you feel
Crawling on your knees you wonder "can this be real"
You grab hold of your stomach like it's on fire
Your head screams the pain of a million in choir

Out of your shoulder blades bursts two wings of white
Ripping apart the flesh as they grow in the moonlight
The feathers glisten as the rain falls upon them
You scream out from the sudden pain again

You get up slowly, feeling something never felt before
Blood drips down your sides, your shoulders so sore
These new wings are massive in their own size
You look up wondering if you can fly into the skies

You take one unsteady step, then step number two
Every sense is sharp and your body feels brand new
You can feel these wings wanting, begging to fly away
You take one more step until the ground begins to sway

Your wings begin to carry you into the dark sky
Suddenly it hits you that you have begun to fly
And on this day a new angel was born within
Even from the darkest place can peace be found again
