The Lies You Told Me

by brie kelly wise   Apr 12, 2008

The sound of cold skin hits a shiny heart
It always seems summer nights take longer to get dark
But I'm going crazy just waiting for three a.m. tonight
It'll be the hour I'll slip into sleep and leave you behind

I wake up to an open window on a rainy Monday afternoon
The chance to actually breathe its air will come soon
You said don't worry but how could I not with you in the air?
I gave you something but too bad I had to take back my share

I used to have an artificial smile but in the making, I gained wings
I used to cry out so you would write another song and hopefully sing
But your voice is far away from what I want to hear
Your voice isn't a missed memory and I smile at the thought that it doesn't shed a tear

Catastrophe for Him to know the real truth. And probably end of the world to know that loneliness is the only option: your voice is far away from what I want to hear. Who would ever possess such a voice, the one you want to hear?
    Great poem.
