Never Set Out to be Perfect.

by Brittany   Apr 15, 2008

You never set out to be perfect,
Claiming to want more than figments of yourself,
Walking down a blind-folded path,
You became numb to life around you,
But remained that person you were born to be,
Wise beyond the years you've spent wondering,
Wise beyond the quantity of questions you've asked.

We never set out to be perfect,
Never asked for more than we could give,
There was some kind of unspoken understanding,
A way to walk together without revealing darker secrets,
Because we both knew beyond the doubt singing in our minds,
That everything would eventually fade away,
We knew we'd eventually fall apart.

I never set out to be perfect,
All I've ever wanted was to find myself,
Walking towards an experience,
Waiting for something to strike what I've locked away,
I began with secrets deeper than any depth known,
But I know I'm just lost.
