The Why And Where

by Oracle   Apr 19, 2008

Yes,
I've been there.

That dark, dark place.
The one you wish to escape from,
but never really will.
You know it?

Perhaps we all do.
There has to be more than just one person in pain.
Why does that dark, dark place attract us so?

A loss near our hearts,
solace that none have provided,
the rejection of others,
or being alone?

I think I can fathom why it tempts us so.
Yet I can't turn away from it.
It's bad...

We've all been there,
but have we really crawled out of there?
Or is our origin?

It feels like home,
like a haven,
for me or you.

We seek refuge in the wrong places in our darkest times.
At least some of us do.

O.O I loved it. Very, very well written... and I have no idea, but I love all of your endings, LOL. They're brilliant and even more brilliantly expressed. I imagine reading a poem in a way the reader enjoys reading it... we cannot always read it the way the writer feels is recommended.... which sometimes sucks, because some of the readers prefer a second line... :) great job. 5/5
