Take Me to my Books to get Lost

by thewritingwriter   Apr 19, 2008

Here I am
Once again I lie awake
surrounded by books
never read but adored
the night won't steal me
all I want is to be stolen
in the meanwhile
I lie awake
surrounded by thoughts
distant places receive my mind
and calm its echoing troubles
always alone at night
I toss and shiver on this couch
my bed won't comfort me
no room for another body
unless pressed tight against me
what I'd give for someone
to hold me
strong loving arms
instead of distant places
and towers of books
someone else's breathing
besides my own
another heartbeat
there is nothing but
quiet
just me and the night
on a couch
night please take me
away from here
trapped in this rut
of inconsistent consistency
take me to my lovers arms
take me to my books to get lost
take me to faraway places
faraway places to be found
here I am
I lie awake once again
