Breaking Down Walls

by SmileeItsBritt   Apr 22, 2008

A heart so cracked, left bleeding on the floor
The ones she had loved all took their stabs at her
So she threw up her hands, said enough is enough
The beatings and bruising she could no longer endure
She built up a wall, and she made it of steel
So no one could enter, not even a centimeter of her heart
She built it so high, so no one could see
She wasn't really happy; she was just so torn apart
But the voice of one, peeled off the first layer of steel
The steel wall continued peeling and falling to shards
But she put up no fight; there were no signs of struggle
A miracle happened, and she let down her guard.
She told of her story, to a stranger it seemed
But she soon found out what this stranger could bring
She saw into her heart and saw something so pure
It was just a girl once broken, who went through similar things.
A mirror image it seemed, hearts with similar scars
Each one telling a story, a story hidden beneath
They went seperate ways to try and cope with their scars
One of them chose to write, the other to sing
Little hesitance was noticed as they chatted away,
They revealed all of their truths, just pouring them out
She was no longer questioning sincerity or whether she'd leave
She looked to the skies, and knew those words they did count.
As the night faded away, she thought to herself
"My heart feels more free and safe than it's ever been."
Their paths crossed unexpectedly, and she finally believed
Everything happens for a reason, and it will be worth it in the end.
