Misconception

by silhouette fairy   Apr 24, 2008

Sitting alone in the study
silently writing,
she looks up,
seeing him as he enters the doorway.
She smiles, silently thinking,
finally some relief.
his face looks concerned
he walks around her chair
silently she awaits his news
she looks up and smiles
giving a half smile he sighs,
"he's gone."
"who's gone?"
"your first love"
"what do you mean?"
she says with a hint of laughter
"the man you loved--"
"love," she corrected
"love, he is no longer here"
"but how can this be?"
she replies, standing up
"I'm looking right at him."
she gently grabs his shoulders
pulling him close
she gives him their first kiss
"the first time i was tricked,
that wasn't love,
this is."
she whispers letting him go.
