Man at heart

by Dylan   Apr 24, 2008

Sunrise to sunset nothing but a man at heart with a boys spirit
watching the wind to blow away the past, with no reason to fear it
grabbing this life with a hammer and needing a drill bit
watching the wind to blow away the past, nothing to do but wait and sit
in this mind driving the milestone only to throw a fit

nothing but a man at heart with a boys spirit
cleaning out the old and in with the new
trying for nothing more but to forget you
a dream in this life when holding the nail and needing the screw

reaching the bottom where even the sands don't know your here
watching the wind to blow away the past and draw the future near
rock bottom, no more no less
plant the flag and call in distress
watching, waiting for whatever's left
stealing life and its horns but committing no theft

nothing but a man at heart and a boys spirit
cleaning out the old and in with the new
trying for nothing more but to forget you
no light at the end of the tunnel but i will keep trudging threw

a voice of silence that only i can hear
screaming silently in my head to let my heart steer
play this life like a game not reminding its a career

watching the wind to blow away the past to a new start
nothing but a boy in spirit but a man at heart

I like the intensity that the poem generates. Its very touching and i like the repetitions of the lines. It makes it sound almost like a chorus of a song. i like the personifications that you give life and the wind. though it is not something you can see like solid object concreate ...you make it sound as if they both are able to be seen and felt which is good. it brings a sense of realness to the poem
