The Time Bird

by C P Sharma   Apr 26, 2008

I

When twilight falls and oft I think,
Of the bird that visits me every morn,
Not ever talked, not ever known,
Awaiting dialogue, sits forlorn.

We sit still as the hours pass by,
Some cozy strong relation binds,
She sits singing songs so sweet
Knocking at the doors of mind.

As I move away from her,
She tries to say me in a shrill voice,
'Thanks for your company'.
Then flies to a nearby pole to rejoice.

Creates the musical vibrations so sweet,
Soothes every heart and every nerve,
Her captivating music soft and sweet,
The passersby wish to preserve.

She gets attached to everyone,
Inseparable, their being adore,
The part and parcel of each day,
Master of the music divine encore.

Beloved of all, she sings whole day,
Scents red roses and white lilies,
Colors the wings of butterfly bright,
Sweetens honey in the combs of bees.

II

The autumn has ended,
And the winter has come.
Today when I think of the distance covered,
Through spring, summer, rain and autumn,

The beautiful songs she used to sing,
In voice glamorous and divine,
We used to forget ourselves,
We soothed and purged in melody fine.

The Time Bird has flown now,
It had to fly, it couldn't stay,
Time and tide wait for none,
So was The Time Bird to go this way.

We just give a senile smile,
We bothered not when guest in home,
Now when she is bidding adieu,
We recall the images while going to tomb.

III

When The Time Bird will fly,
And the life will come to an end,
Your own soul will analyze,
How we are going to defend?

So have an ever-open dialogue,
Your life will be bright and glow.
Add something to others' smile,
Unending stream of happiness will flow.

From darkness to light it will go,
A halo around your being will grow,
The world before you will bow,
You will become world's treasure trove.

So act before the Time Bird flies,
The stream of your consciousness dries.
Act before this body dies,
Act before there are hues and cries.
