What if This is as Good as it Gets?

by Beautiful Chaos   Apr 29, 2008

What if there's no heaven?
No golden, pearly gates,
What if there's no madman,
Who sits up there and waits.

No inferno burns below us,
Hell's inside the mind,
We're still the greatest miracle,
We've ever come to find.

What if this is life?
No answers beyond here,
A fluke that we have come to live,
Atop this spinning sphere.

Will dreams still shine or fade away,
Will stars fall from the sky?
Would life truly change at all,
For either you or I?

That is very thought provoking, creates many questions about the world around us, is that your intention? Hope so. You achieved it EXTREMELY well. 5/5

I'm a christian so of course to answer your questions.. yes. There is a heaven and hell, but that's beside the point. Lol. I love this poem, because you make the reader think.. is there really life beyond this world? Is there life after death? It just makes a really good poem.. wondering.

    No inferno burns below us,

^^ I love how you used the word "inferno" instead of just saying hell or some other common word. Very descriptive.

    Keep writing!
