Ten pills

by sarah   May 26, 2004

Her hands quivered as she took pill one
Yet she knew that this had to be done
Her only regret when she swallowed the second pill
Was that she was to young to know how to write a will
Tears ran down her face when she drank pill three
Crying for a future that would never be
“At last” she said as she took pill four
“Nobody will be able to hurt me any more”
She reminded herself that no one noticed she was alive
As she bravely gulped down pill number five
After pill six she began to sway
But at least, one thought, I will make them pay
She wondered as she swallowed pill number seven
If people who kill themselves would go to heaven
But she knew that it was too late
She had already gulped down pill number eight
Then came pill number nine “if they put this on TV.
I wonder if people will finally pay attention to me”
Tears came flowing down seconds after pill ten
Dropping the container “this is the end”
She closed her eyes
As she crumbled to the floor
Ending her misery
Forever more
